Two Ways to Participate

Learn by doing.

Junior Working Students

Designed for riders who want to spend more time at the farm while gaining hands-on experience with horse care, barn responsibilities, safety, and teamwork. Junior Working Students must receive approval from their trainer before participating.

Working Students

Designed for riders ready to take on regular barn responsibilities and strengthen their horsemanship skills. The program provides opportunities to work toward lessons and gain additional time in the saddle through approved working-student shifts.

What to Expect

Learning begins in the barn.

Approval

Junior Working Students must receive approval from their trainer. Working Students must be trained and approved for their role.

Barn Safety

Participants are expected to follow barn safety procedures, wear appropriate footwear and required riding equipment, and check in and out with the barn manager.

Responsibility

Working Students take on approved shifts and responsibilities that may include horse handling, feeding, watering, blanketing, barn care, time management, and supporting other students.

Time in the Saddle

Approved Working Student shifts may provide opportunities to work toward lessons and additional riding time. Scheduling and program details are coordinated with the barn manager.
